The investigation into the tragic death of Charlie Kirk has taken a major step forward after the FBI reviewed text messages between 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson and his roommate, Lance Twiggs. Investigators say the messages helped them locate and arrest Robinson in St. George, Utah. Authorities confirmed that Twiggs is fully cooperating and will not face charges. Evidence gathered from the apartment, including computers and other digital devices, is now undergoing forensic review.
Court records indicate that the messages contained references to retrieving a rifle and taking steps to avoid detection prior to the incident. Despite this evidence, Robinson’s grandmother maintains his innocence, describing him as a quiet young man with no known history of violence. Investigators later recovered a rifle and additional physical evidence, including footwear impressions and palm prints.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox revealed that engravings found on ammunition referenced internet culture and video games, which experts are still analyzing for potential significance. Officials also confirmed that Robinson’s father recognized him in surveillance footage and, with the help of a family pastor, contacted law enforcement. This led to Robinson’s safe arrest by U.S. Marshals.
Robinson is being held without bail on charges that include aggravated murder and obstruction of justice. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will seek the death penalty. The FBI continues to review digital evidence and examine potential motives or other individuals connected to the case as the investigation moves forward.
