Let’s be honest—cleaning blinds is one of the most frustrating household chores. You grab a duster, tilt the slats one by one, and somehow spend nearly an hour on a single window. By the end, your arm hurts and the blinds still don’t look truly clean. But there’s a much easier way—one that takes under two minutes and requires almost no effort.
This simple trick was passed down from my nana, and it works surprisingly well. All you need is one clean cotton sock and one unused dryer sheet. No sprays, no buckets, and no special tools. Just a smart combination that makes dust disappear fast. Slip the cotton sock onto your hand like a glove. Cotton naturally traps dust instead of spreading it around.
Then place the dryer sheet over the sock and secure it with a hair tie or rubber band. The dryer sheet is lightly coated with fabric softener, which helps reduce static and repel future dust. Tilt the blinds open and gently grip two slats at a time. Glide your hand along the length of the slats, cleaning both the front and back in one smooth motion. Flip the slats and repeat on the other side. That’s it.
The sock grabs the dust, while the dryer sheet leaves a light anti-static layer so dust doesn’t return as quickly. It’s safe for homes with kids and pets, reusable, and perfect for regular upkeep. Sometimes the best cleaning solutions aren’t new—they’re simply smart ideas passed down through care and experience.
